Tony Bartlett, 39, was found guilty of murdering his four-week-old son Atticus on Wednesday, nearly four years after the infant's death. The verdict was delivered at Bristol Crown Court.
Bartlett shook the baby at the family home in Chard, Somerset, on 16 July 2022, having consumed up to nine pints of Stella beer beforehand. Atticus died a week later, on 23 July 2022, at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. During the trial, Bartlett attempted to blame his partner Evelyn Ballentyne for the child's death.
The judge has indicated a mandatory life sentence, with sentencing scheduled for 24 July at Bristol Crown Court.
