The European Commission has released 3.47 billion euros to Ukraine under the defence component of a broader support package, with the funds earmarked for drones, missiles and fighter jets.
The payment is drawn from a 90 billion euro loan approved by EU member states in April. Military acquisitions will include long-range jet-powered drones, missile systems and Gripen fighter aircraft, as well as air defence capabilities. The commission previously disbursed 3.9 billion euros on 30 June and 1.1 billion euros on 15 July under the same programme, alongside a 3.2 billion euro macro-financial assistance transfer on 25 June.
A total of 28.3 billion euros is scheduled for disbursement this year to reinforce Kyiv's military capacity.
