The International Monetary Fund has approved the immediate release of about $690 million to Ukraine after completing the first review of a four-year extended financing facility, the fund announced Monday.
The payout is the second tranche under the programme, which was originally approved for $8.1 billion. Including the initial disbursement, total payments to Kyiv now stand at roughly $2.2 billion. Further tranches depend on progress in reforming Ukraine's tax system, with terms agreed between the fund and Kyiv in June.
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said Ukraine continues to show remarkable resilience despite the conflict, now in its fifth year. The fund forecasts Ukrainian GDP growth slowing to 1–1.6% this year before accelerating to 3.5% in 2027.
