Infantino faces a potential vote of no confidence from UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation, and Concacaf, following a now-abandoned plan to sell stakes in FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup, to private investors. A group of former internationals, including Emmanuel Petit, Bixente Lizarazu, and Lucy Bronze, issued a joint statement calling for structural reform, arguing football is drifting from its core values.
The Confederation of African Football has unanimously reaffirmed its support for Infantino, with CAF president Patrice Motsepe saying his future should be decided at the 2027 election. Infantino is expected to stand for re-election in March.
