Emergency overhead power line maintenance has forced rail operators to halt or curtail train services across the Øresund Bridge throughout the weekend, compounding delays on what is expected to be the busiest day in the history of Copenhagen Airport with roughly 123,000 passengers.
The disruption, initially scheduled to ease by early Sunday afternoon, was extended due to urgent track repairs that left travellers facing cancelled departures and reduced service. Only about one to two trains per hour in each direction were running, with full service not expected to resume before Monday afternoon. Replacement buses were deployed from Hyllie station in Malmö and Copenhagen Airport at Kastrup.
Skånetrafiken customer service staff indicated limited weekend throughput, and passengers were warned to expect delays into the evening. The planned work involves replacing a section of the bridge's catenary wire.
