Eight Arab and Muslim states blame Israel for obstructing Gaza peace plan

Eight Arab and Muslim nations held Israel responsible for obstructing peace in Gaza in a joint statement on Sunday, condemning Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rejection of a roadmap to implement U.S. President Donald Trump's comprehensive peace plan and his opposition to Palestinian statehood.

Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates called on Washington to press Israel to comply with the plan, which was endorsed by U.N. Security Council Resolution 2803. Netanyahu publicly refused the roadmap on Aug. 9, insisting Hamas must disarm before any Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

Hamas agreed to a disarmament plan but conditioned it on Israeli compliance with the existing truce. U.S. envoys Jared Kushner and Nikolay Mladenov met mediators in Cairo on Sunday and are scheduled to meet Netanyahu on Monday. A fragile ceasefire has held since October 2025.
