Ten concertgoers were briefly trapped in a crowd surge during The Minds of 99's performance at Denmark's Smukfest on Saturday evening, though no injuries were reported at what organisers called the festival's largest concert of the year, drawing an estimated 38,000 attendees.
The crush occurred near a bar area, where volunteers helped trapped guests over the counter to safety. Security chief Thomas Rydahl said those involved were shaken but unharmed, and that festival officials are addressing the situation. Lead singer Niels Brandt paused after the third song to urge the audience to look after one another, and the remainder of the set proceeded without incident.
One festivalgoer raised concerns about safety and insufficient emergency exits. Smukfest has experienced similar pressure at previous Minds of 99 shows, including in 2023 when several entrances were temporarily closed. The band sold out Copenhagen's Parken stadium three consecutive nights in 2024, drawing 147,000 fans.
