Carlos Sainz signs multi-year extension to remain at Williams into 2027 and beyond

Carlos Sainz has signed a multi-year contract extension with Williams, committing the 31-year-old Spanish driver to the team into 2027 and beyond. The deal secures the lineup of Sainz and Alex Albon, who agreed to his own one-year renewal earlier this week.

Sainz, who joined Williams in 2025 after leaving Ferrari, had been due to see his current contract expire at the end of this season. His previous deal with the Grove-based outfit is now superseded by the fresh agreement. The Spaniard won four grands prix during his Ferrari tenure from 2022 to 2024 and is one of only three drivers — alongside Alain Prost and Nigel Mansell — to have raced for Williams, McLaren and Ferrari.

Together, Sainz and Albon bring more than 370 grand prix starts, over 1,600 points and 31 podiums to the team, which last claimed the constructors' title in 1997 and currently sits ninth in the standings at the season's halfway mark.
