Alex Albon signs one-year extension to remain at Williams for 2027

Alex Albon will remain at Williams for the 2027 Formula 1 season after agreeing to a one-year contract extension announced ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix.

The 30-year-old London-born driver has been with the team since 2022 and has scored five points so far this season, one fewer than teammate Carlos Sainz. Williams currently sits ninth in the constructors' championship after 11 races, trailing Aston Martin and Cadillac, a sharp fall from finishing fifth in 2025.

Team principal James Vowles said Albon has led Williams' transformation project from day one, with the outfit targeting a title challenge by 2030. Albon himself acknowledged in February that Williams had started the 2026 campaign behind the four leading manufacturers. His best season with the team came last year, when he finished eighth in the drivers' standings.
