Honda signs Quartararo and Alonso for MotoGP roster overhaul

Honda Racing Corporation has signed Fabio Quartararo to a two-year contract for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons, the manufacturer announced on Monday, securing the French rider for the championship's transition to a new 850cc engine formula. Quartararo will leave Yamaha to join Honda's factory squad when the regulation cycle begins.

The Japanese marque also signed Moto2 rider David Alonso to a multi-year deal that will see the Colombian step up to MotoGP, the company confirmed in a separate announcement. Alonso's promotion completes a significant reshaping of Honda's racing lineup ahead of the sport's next technical era.
