Arthur Fery, whose run to the Wimbledon semi-finals as world number 114 propelled him to British number one and a career-high ranking of 36, was congratulated by the Prince and Princess of Wales and received a birthday card from the royal family after turning 24 on the day of the men's final on 12 July. Fery, who told Catherine he had never played on Centre Court before the tournament, invited Prince George and Princess Charlotte to play tennis during their meeting at the All England Club.
The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the final with George and Charlotte, arriving at 15:00 BST, while Prince Louis, aged eight, did not attend. Catherine, patron of the All England Club, presented the trophy to Jannik Sinner after his victory over Alexander Zverev. William expressed gratitude for the good weather throughout the tournament.
Prince George, 12, drew attention online for a relaxed pose in the Royal Box, where he was photographed wearing a suit and using a mini fan amid the summer heat. Fery will earn £900,000 in prize money from his semi-final finish.
