Tom Chadbon, a British actor who appeared in more than 120 film and television productions including Doctor Who, Game of Thrones and Casino Royale, has died aged 80, organiser Fantom Events confirmed in a social media post on Tuesday.
Chadbon made his Doctor Who debut in 1979 as detective Duggan in City of Death, a serial that drew more than 16 million viewers and ranks among the series' most-watched episodes. He returned to the show in 1986, playing Merdeen in The Mysterious Planet. His other prominent roles included Professor Henry Williams in the recurring drama Casualty and Le Chiffre's lawyer in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale.
One of his final screen appearances was as High Septon Maynard in the seventh series of Game of Thrones in 2017, marking a career that spanned nearly four decades of British television.
