A boy is suspected of attempted murder after a five-year-old girl sustained serious stab or cut injuries at a playground in Furutorpsparken, Helsingborg, on Monday afternoon. Police received the alert at 14:46 on 13 July 2026 and the girl was taken to Helsingborg Hospital, where her condition was later described as stable.
Officers detained a boy in the immediate area and seized several items from the scene. However, the arrest was lifted because the suspect is under 15 and therefore below Sweden's age of criminal prosecution. He has since been placed in the care of social services, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred around 15:00. Investigations into the circumstances and motive are ongoing.
