A 102-year-old man has died following an alleged assault at a pub in south Wales, police confirmed Thursday.
Phillip Ormerod, from Cwmbran, was taken to hospital after the incident at The Crow's Nest pub on 1 August and later succumbed to his injuries. A witness claimed Ormerod went onto the stage to ask for the music to be turned down and was pushed, causing him to fall and break his hip. Emergency services were called to the venue at about 22:25 BST.
A 56-year-old man from Llanelli was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been released under investigation. Gwent Police are appealing for witnesses who were in the pub between 22:00 and 23:00 on the night of the incident to come forward.
