A wildfire in Germany's Müritz National Park has spread across roughly 15.5 hectares of mixed forest, with some 340 emergency responders battling the flames on terrain contaminated by unexploded military ordnance.
The blaze, which originated on a former military training ground, is advancing slowly westward toward Lake Müritz as winds have calmed. An ordnance disposal unit is deployed in the fire zone. Firefighters are establishing containment lines to protect the nearby villages of Granzin, Granziner Mühle, Krienke, and Boek.
Evacuation orders for three villages were lifted after residents had temporarily fled their homes. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains unclear. A community centre in Peckatel has been placed on standby as emergency shelter.
