A wildfire in a steep forested area near Schramberg in Germany's Black Forest has been largely extinguished after burning between 10 and 12 hectares, an area roughly equivalent to 14 football pitches.

The fire, which broke out late Sunday afternoon, spread significantly overnight as flames advanced toward the towns of Tennenbronn and Schramberg. At the height of the overnight operation, around 330 firefighters battled the blaze. Reinforcements arrived from across the region, including 50 personnel from Freiburg with a newly deployed state forest-fire tanker. Local farmers assisted with slurry and water tankers, while water was also drawn from a fire pond and an outdoor swimming pool.

Mayor Dorothee Eisenlohr urged residents to stay home, keep windows closed, and switch off air conditioning in several affected districts. Some 124 firefighters with 37 vehicles remained on scene to monitor hotspots.
