Two Berlin senate administrations reconnected to state network after cyberattack

· Technology DEU

Two Berlin senate administrations have been reconnected to the state network after a cyberattack that isolated them on 14 August. The departments for urban development, building and housing, and for mobility, transport, environment and climate protection are back online more than a week after the intrusion disrupted services including housing benefit payments and education support for children.

The Senate Chancellery said both departments have implemented immediate measures to strengthen IT security. Sensitive data does not appear to have been stolen, though forensic investigations will continue in the coming weeks.

The state criminal police office and public prosecutor continue to investigate the breach, which left residents unable to apply for or receive housing benefits for days.
