Trump threatens prison over leaks on depleted US missile stocks

President Donald Trump has threatened lengthy prison sentences for anyone leaking what he called "treasonous information" about U.S. weapons stockpiles, insisting on Truth Social that the country maintains enormous ammunition reserves.

The warning followed reports that severe shortages of long-range guided missiles and interceptors contributed to Trump's decision to cancel planned strikes on Iran. Trump said he had planned the "biggest attack since World War II" but suspended it at Iran's request. The Washington Post reported Trump demanded explanations from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at a Camp David cabinet meeting, with Hegseth blaming his deputy Stephen Feinberg.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt dismissed the reports as "100 percent fake news," and Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell called them fabricated. A CSIS estimate cited by German media put remaining Patriot interceptors at roughly 830, down from about 2,300 before the conflict.
