Organisers of the Tour de France have shortened Saturday's ninth stage by 30 kilometres after the Corrèze department was placed on red-level heat alert by Météo-France. The route from Malemort to Ussel, originally 185.5 km, will now cover 155.5 km, a decision Amaury Sport Organisation announced on 11 July.
The revised start is set for 13:45 local time, with riders expected to reach the finish in Ussel around 17:30. The course will rejoin the originally planned route in the commune of Lanteuil after passing through Brive-la-Gaillarde.
The red alert, denoting an exceptionally intense heat episode, prompted the precautionary measure to protect riders and spectators along the route.
