Taiwan's government is moving to block the Chinese platform "Taiwan Youth e-Home" over alleged violations of the Cross-Strait Act and security risks tied to personal data collection. Mainland Affairs Council Minister Chiu Chui-cheng announced the enforcement action on Wednesday, saying the platform violated Articles 23 and 34 by purportedly helping Taiwanese youths find education and employment opportunities in China.
The platform, launched on July 15, required users to submit personal information and advertised internships with the Communist Youth League of China. The MAC advised Beijing to focus on lowering its own youth unemployment rate rather than targeting Taiwanese young people.
Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Chen Binhua dismissed the allegations as "deliberate smears", saying nearly 2,000 companies had joined the platform and posted roughly 6,000 job vacancies. As of Wednesday evening, the platform remained accessible from Taiwan.
