Shelton, who has not dropped a set in Montreal, evened his head-to-head record with Mensik at 2-2.

Rafael Jodar defeated Arthur Fils 7-6(5), 6-3 to become the first male player born in 2006 or later to reach a Masters 1000 semifinal. Learner Tien beat Daniel Merida 6-3, 6-2 to reach his first Masters 1000 semifinal, while Brandon Nakashima dispatched Luciano Darderi 6-2, 6-3.
