Taylor Fritz claimed his first title of 2026 by defeating Rafael Jódar 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in the Washington final on Monday, ending a run of three consecutive final losses this year in Dallas, Stuttgart, and Halle.
The rain-delayed ATP 500 championship match, pushed from Sunday to Monday, lasted one hour and 49 minutes. The victory gave the 28-year-old American his 11th career title and first since Eastbourne last year. Jódar, 19, saved four match points in the second set but finished the match with a left wrist issue after a fall.
The result marked only the second career final for Jódar, who entered the top 20 following his run in Washington after winning Marrakech in April. He is next scheduled to play the Montreal Masters 1000.
