Saudi Arabia launched air strikes on the Houthi-held Yemeni port city of Hodeidah on July 23, hitting telecommunications infrastructure and Kamaran Island, according to Houthi security sources and rebel-linked media. The raids targeted multiple rebel facilities including naval bases, a Yemeni security source said, and left at least one person injured on Kamaran.
The strikes come after the Houthis announced a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia on July 20. In a related incident, a Saudi ship was reportedly hit in the Red Sea on the evening of July 23.
Italian and Swedish media cited Houthi outlets confirming the scope of the bombardment on telecommunications sites across Hodeidah province.
