A runner was gored in the face by a bull that broke from the pack during Saturday's San Fermín bull run in Pamplona, Spain. Six bulls charged into the crowd and knocked participants to the cobblestones on July 11, 2026, before one animal separated from the herd and struck a runner with its horn.
Twelve additional people required medical treatment at the University of Navarra Hospital following the fifth morning run of the eight-day festival, which continues through July 14. No fatalities have occurred at San Fermín's bull runs since 2009.
This year's festival coincides with the 100th anniversary of Ernest Hemingway's novel The Sun Also Rises, which brought international attention to the centuries-old tradition.
