Royal Air Force Typhoon jets were scrambled from Lincolnshire to intercept a Qatar Airways flight bound for Manchester Airport after a 14-year-old boy from Bolton made a hoax threat against the aircraft. National Air Traffic Services received the threat at around 18:00 BST on Friday, prompting the military response.
The aircraft landed safely at 19:45 BST, and authorities confirmed there was no danger to passengers or crew. The teenager was not on the flight and has since been identified by police. He is assisting officers with their inquiries.
