A widespread PlayStation Network outage disrupted gaming services globally on Thursday, with tens of thousands of users reporting connection and login failures. The disruption began around 11:40 a.m. and remained unresolved as of late afternoon.
In the UK alone, Downdetector logged over 6,000 reports, with 52% citing server connection problems and 29% unable to log in. The outage affected services including the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls beta and PlayStation Portal streaming. Amazon Web Services experienced server issues around the same time but later resolved them.
Sony's official status page initially indicated normal operations before acknowledging that all services were experiencing problems. The outage comes as the company plans to discontinue physical PlayStation game releases from January 2028, shifting entirely to digital distribution.
