Paramount+ has ordered a six-episode sequel series to the 1995 comedy "Clueless," with Alicia Silverstone returning as star and executive producer. The project, originally developed at Peacock in early 2025 before being dropped in April 2026, is now set to begin filming in Los Angeles in 2027.
The series will be set in the present day, following Silverstone's iconic character Cher Horowitz as the mother of a teenage daughter. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creative team behind "Gossip Girl," will write the screenplay alongside Jordan Weiss. Amy Heckerling, who directed the original film, is attached as executive producer.
The production has filed paperwork with the California Film Commission for tax incentives. The original "Clueless" was added to the U.S. National Film Registry earlier this year, cementing its place in American cinema history.
