Netflix deployed artificial intelligence in roughly 300 films and series in 2026, with co-chief executive Ted Sarandos saying the technology generated crowd scenes and historical battle sequences that would otherwise have been too costly or time-consuming to shoot.
The streaming giant reported second-quarter revenue of $12.56 billion, a 13 percent increase year-on-year, while net profit rose nearly 9 percent to $3.4 billion. The results were bolstered by a $2.8 billion contractual penalty received from Warner in February following the collapse of an acquisition deal.
Despite the earnings beat, Netflix shares fell as much as 9 percent in after-hours trading after the company announced it will publish viewership data only once a year starting in 2027, down from the current semi-annual schedule. The reduced transparency prompted investor concern about future subscriber engagement trends.
