Napoli opened their Serie A campaign with a 2-0 away victory over Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris stadium on Sunday, marking Massimiliano Allegri's debut on the Napoli bench.
Kevin De Bruyne broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute following a combination with Antonio Vergara, before Vergara doubled the lead four minutes later from a De Bruyne assist. The result leaves Napoli second in the early standings with three points, while Inter Milan posted a 4-1 win over Monza elsewhere on the opening matchday.
In other first-round action, Cagliari edged Parma 1-0 thanks to Alessandro Romano's second-half goal. Napoli will host Como at the Maradona stadium on 30 August, while Genoa travels to face Lazio in their next fixture.
