Authorities have identified 47-year-old Kristopher Karolkiewicz as the gunman who killed his wife, Amanda, 39, and their six children before taking his own life in Grand Haven Township, Michigan, updating earlier reports of eight bodies found in a burned home.
All eight deaths were caused by gunshot wounds in the suspected murder-suicide, with autopsies confirming each victim had been shot with a registered handgun. The children — four boys aged 15, 12, 11 and 5, and two adopted 11-year-old girls — were found alongside their parents and family pets after firefighters battled the blaze on Friday. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set in numerous places inside the home after the killings.
Karolkiewicz's employment at the American Heart Association had ended days before the shootings, and Amanda had previously exposed her husband's affair with an intern in a 2024 Reddit post.
