A wave of international airlines has suspended flights to prominent Middle East destinations amid mounting safety concerns. Air France halted services to Dubai and Riyadh starting July 20, 2026, due to security reasons and has extended these suspensions alongside its routes to Beirut. The disruptions coincide with warnings from the U.S. President, who threatened to make Iran pay for soldiers killed in Iranian attacks.

Several other carriers have enacted similar measures. KLM has suspended flights to Dammam, Riyadh, and Dubai through August 23, 2026. Aegean Airlines canceled flights to Dubai until August 31, and Erbil and Baghdad until September 30. Singapore Airlines suspended its Dubai routes until October 24, while British Airways halted flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv, Bahrain, and Amman until October 25.

To mitigate risks, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency has recommended that airlines avoid the airspace of Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates until at least July 29, 2026.
