Lisbon's municipal parking operator EMEL will raise hourly rates for the first time in 15 years, with increases of 5 to 10 cents per hour depending on the zone. The adjustment, benchmarked to the 4.82% cumulative inflation recorded between 2024 and 2025, will be debated at a city council meeting on 22 July 2026.
Under the proposal, the cheapest green-zone tariff rises from €0.80 to €0.85 per hour, while the premium black-zone rate climbs from €3.00 to €3.15. Intermediate tiers see yellow increase to €1.25, red to €1.70, and brown to €2.10.
Approval is assured: the PSD/CDS-PP/IL coalition holds an absolute majority on the council, guaranteeing passage of the measure.
