LaLiga president Javier Tebas has launched a sweeping attack on FIFA, accusing the global governing body of "destroying the football industry" and calling for president Gianni Infantino to resign, saying his tenure "has already ended."
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tebas described the FIFA system as "already sick at its root" and lamented the absence of challengers in upcoming FIFA elections. He singled out hydration breaks at the 2026 World Cup as "a lie" masking advertising slots, dismissed expanding the 2030 tournament to 64 teams, and criticised the suspension of Folarin Balogun's ban following a phone call from Donald Trump to Infantino as a matter of "extreme seriousness."
Tebas argued the European Super League ruling reinforced the "monopoly" of FIFA and UEFA, while attributing Spain's national team success to collaborative work among clubs, LaLiga, and the RFEF.
