Italy's competition authority has closed an investigation into Dolomiti Superski and its 12 member valley consortiums after accepting commitments that include 30 million euros in refunds and vouchers for skiers.
The antitrust body found the consortium had restricted competition by fixing ski pass prices across its member areas in Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto and limiting their ability to sell passes through other channels. Under the settlement, the consortiums will eliminate all internal coordination on pricing and distribution. Skiers who bought daily or multi-day passes in the 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and 2024-2025 seasons can choose between a 30 percent discount voucher or a 20 percent direct cash refund starting October 15.
The consortiums also committed to maintaining existing promotions on the Dolomiti Superski super-pass for the next five winter seasons, valued at an estimated 20 million euros. Pass prices had risen 28 percent since 2021. Consumer group Assoutenti criticised the compensation structure as overly complex, warning conditions could exclude some skiers.
