Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has met with President Masoud Pezeshkian to mark the start of the president's third year in office, the Supreme Leader's office announced on Saturday.

The meeting marks Khamenei's first known public appearance since he assumed the role of supreme leader in March, succeeding his late father Ali Khamenei. He had not been seen publicly since reportedly being injured in a February strike by the United States and Israel. State broadcaster Mehr News released video footage of Khamenei on Saturday, and a deputy commander of the Basij paramilitary force said images of the supreme leader in public settings would be released soon.

The two leaders discussed at length the challenges facing the country, including public livelihoods, an ongoing military conflict, future prospects, military developments, and economic cooperation with foreign partners. Pezeshkian's inauguration anniversary falls on July 30.
