Inter Milan defeated Manchester City 3-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on Saturday, handing Enzo Maresca a loss in his first match in charge of City.
Divin Mubama opened the scoring for City in the 14th minute, striking into an empty net, before Benjamin Pavard equalised for Inter six minutes later.
In the shootout, City missed three of their four attempts, with Rayan Ait-Nouri among those to fail from the spot. Piotr Zielinski, Mattia Mosconi and Mattheo Lavelli all converted for Inter, while Claudio Eccheveri scored a Panenka-style penalty for City. Lavelli's decisive strike past Gianluigi Donnarumma sealed the win for the Italian side.
