Incumbent U.S. Representative Ed Case defeated state Senator Jarrett Keohokalole in Hawaii's 1st Congressional District Democratic primary on Saturday, securing roughly 60 percent of the vote with 91 percent of ballots counted.
Keohokalole, 42, who represents Kāneʻohe and Kailua in the state Senate, challenged Case over corporate campaign contributions, arguing the incumbent had grown detached from constituents. Case, who has held the seat since 2019 and previously served from 2002 to 2007, will face Republican Adriel Lam in the November general election.
In the 2nd District, Representative Jill Tokuda won her Democratic primary decisively. Governor Josh Green also defeated several challengers to secure the Democratic gubernatorial nomination.
