A heavy-load transporter carrying a construction crane overturned on the A2 motorway near Kamen in western Germany early Tuesday, blocking the highway in both directions at the Kamen/Bergkamen interchange.
The driver lost control of the vehicle shortly before 1:00 a.m. while traveling toward Hannover, possibly due to a burst tire. The transporter broke through the central barrier and came to rest across the carriageway, shedding its crane load onto the road. The Polish driver and his son, who was also in the cab, sustained minor injuries.
Fuel spilled during the crash, requiring roadway cleanup and the excavation of grass verges to prevent environmental contamination. Dortmund police said the affected section is expected to remain closed until late evening, with recovery operations continuing into the afternoon.
