Constanze Oehlrich has stepped down as chair of the Greens parliamentary group in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, roughly one month before the state election scheduled for 20 September. She had held the post since being elected in April 2024.
The resignation follows a complaint filed last year by a staff member under Germany's General Equal Treatment Act, which alleged abuse of power. A law firm subsequently investigated and found no violation of the law or misconduct in her leadership.
Oehlrich had originally been nominated as the Greens' lead candidate for the upcoming election. Following internal party disputes, Claudia Müller took over the top spot on the ticket.
