Germany’s open-field strawberry harvest is estimated at 71,300 tonnes in 2026, an 11.3% decline from a year earlier and the lowest volume since 1995. The cultivation area dropped 2.9% to 7,830 hectares, sitting 18.5% below the six-year average.
The asparagus crop also contracted, reaching an estimated 100,300 tonnes, down 3.4% from 2025 and the weakest output since 2010. Lower Saxony remains the leading growing region for both crops, with the state expected to account for 18,100 tonnes of strawberries, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia at 14,600 tonnes.
Final 2026 harvest figures will be published in spring 2027.
