Germany's offshore wind fleet crossed the 10-gigawatt threshold for the first time at the end of June 2026, with 1,077 megawatts of new capacity installed in the first half of the year across the North and Baltic seas.
A total of 1,764 turbines with a combined 10.8 gigawatts were operational as of 30 June, while a further 22 turbines representing 323 megawatts at the Borkum Riffgrund 3, He Dreiht and Nordseecluster A farms had been erected but were not yet feeding power into the grid. Final investment decisions have been taken on projects worth 2.6 gigawatts, though decisions on an additional 17.5 gigawatts remain outstanding.
The country could reach 30 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2032. In 2025, German offshore turbines generated 26.1 million megawatt-hours of electricity, enough to supply 8.7 million households.
