Germany has disbursed more than 50 million euros from its revamped electric vehicle purchase incentive program, with Tesla emerging as the top beneficiary among individual brands by the end of June, according to government data.
The scheme, which opened its application portal on 19 May, had received 82,008 applications by 13 July. Tesla led approved cases with 2,086 vehicles, followed by Skoda with 1,197 and Renault with 784. By corporate group, Volkswagen Group topped the list with 2,720 vehicles across its Audi, Cupra, Porsche, Skoda and VW marques.
Subsidies of up to 6,000 euros apply to battery-electric vehicles and qualifying plug-in hybrids registered from 1 January 2026, with funds budgeted for as many as 800,000 vehicles. The broader market is responding: pure electric car registrations surged 78 percent year-on-year in June, capturing a 28.4 percent market share.
