German police impound windowless motorhome described as rolling scrap heap

Police in the western German town of Lippstadt halted a Bawemo motorhome travelling without a windscreen or any other windows in an incident in July 2026.

Officers banned the driver from continuing the journey and opened a regulatory offence procedure. Police described the vehicle as a "rolling scrap heap," while a separate statement likened its roadworthiness to the German national football team's chances of winning the 2026 World Cup.

The stop was one of several unusual traffic interventions reported by German authorities this summer, underscoring ongoing enforcement efforts against dangerously unfit vehicles on public roads.
