Median monthly pay for full-time employees in Germany rose 5.1% in 2025 to €4,217 gross, substantially outpacing average consumer price growth of 2.2%. The increase was driven by stronger collective bargaining agreements, according to official data.
Regional disparities remained significant. Hamburg recorded the highest median pay at €4,768, while Mecklenburg-Vorpommern had the lowest at €3,497. Qualifications heavily influenced earnings: workers without vocational training earned a median €3,133, those with vocational credentials €4,069, and university graduates €6,146.
The gender pay gap narrowed to €309 in 2025, down €37 from the previous year, though a measurable divide between male and female full-time workers persists.
