Five people are missing and eight others were injured after a fire destroyed a restaurant and apartment building in the Swiss town of Thusis overnight.
Police were called just after midnight local time on Friday after the blaze broke out on the second floor of the building. Fourteen people managed to escape before the stairwell collapsed, forcing firefighters to open the roof with a crane to reach those still inside. Nearly 100 firefighters responded to the scene.
Two people suffered serious injuries, two sustained moderate injuries and four were lightly hurt. The injured were taken to hospitals in Chur, Thusis, Ilanz and Zurich. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed.
