Five SC Cambuur supporters sustained burns, hearing damage, and eye injuries after visiting Feyenoord fans threw fireworks into a family stand during Sunday's Eredivisie match in Leeuwarden.
Referee Danny Makkelie suspended play in the 12th minute after flares and pyrotechnics were launched from the away end, with some landing near Feyenoord goalkeeper Tjark Ernst. The match was halted for more than 20 minutes while Makkelie consulted the KNVB and local authorities before allowing play to resume. Feyenoord went on to win 5-2, though general manager Robert Eenhoorn said he could not be happy with the victory given the circumstances.
The incident follows last season's abandonment of an Ajax-Groningen match at the Johan Cruyff Arena due to similar pyrotechnic disorder. Feyenoord sit fourth in the Eredivisie with seven points after three rounds, while Cambuur remain bottom without a point.
