England face fitness concerns ahead of World Cup quarter-final with Norway

· Sports GBRNOR

England are sweating over the fitness of defender Marc Guehi ahead of Saturday's World Cup quarter-final against Norway in Kansas City. Guehi nursed a hamstring strain and missed the final training session, leaving him a serious doubt for the knockout tie. Dan Burn is pushing to step into the defence should Guehi be ruled out.

Midfielder Declan Rice missed a second consecutive day of training with a stomach complaint, though medical staff remain confident he will be available. Reece James returned to full training on Thursday after a hamstring injury, but his availability will be decided following further medical advice.

England will definitely be without Jarell Quansah, who received a two-match ban from FIFA for serious foul play after his red card against Mexico. Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson has undergone successful surgery on a wrist injury sustained in that same match.
