German police have received more than 100 tips following a television appeal on the long-running disappearance of Inga Gehricke, who vanished from a farm in Saxony-Anhalt on May 2, 2015, at the age of five. Investigators said the majority of leads involved reported sightings of the girl, while others offered suggestions on search locations and investigative methods.
The July 29 broadcast of "Aktenzeichen XY ... ungelöst" generated 66 calls to the television studio and 41 directly to a dedicated investigations unit in Halle. Senior police official Michael Ripke, who appeared on the programme, said the volume of new information was significant and noted that investigators believe Inga may still be alive.
The Halle police investigations unit has led the case since spring 2023. Authorities continue to seek witnesses who were on the access road to the Wilhelmshof estate at the time of the disappearance, particularly those who may have taken photos or video footage.
