Diesel prices jumped by more than three crowns per litre at some Czech filling stations on Monday as the country's government fuel price controls officially expired, returning the market to free pricing after the intervention introduced in April following the Strait of Hormuz closure.
Price movements were uneven across the country. Diesel rose 3.60 crowns to 44.50 crowns per litre at a MOL station in České Budějovice, while diesel at an Orlen station in Průhonice climbed to 42.10 crowns from 40.10 crowns on Friday. Other stations held prices steady, with pumps in Liberec and parts of the Karlovy Vary region showing minimal change from Sunday.
Finance Minister Alena Schillerová said the ministry will monitor the market closely and is prepared to reinstate controls if pricing anomalies emerge.
