Conor McGregor returns to the UFC octagon to face Max Holloway at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, ending a five-year absence from mixed martial arts competition.
The Irish fighter has not competed since 2021, when he broke his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier. McGregor accepted an 18-month suspension in 2025 for violating the UFC's anti-doping policy after missing three drug tests the previous year.
The rematch carries significant backstory. McGregor defeated Holloway by unanimous decision when the two first met in 2013. Off the canvas, McGregor was found liable in a November 2024 civil case for sexually assaulting Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in 2018. He lost an appeal in July 2025 and was ordered to pay £206,000 in damages.
